If you have an active KCB Mpesa loan and want to clear it quickly and correctly, this guide walks you through the process step by step. KCB Mpesa is a mobile loan service offered by KCB Bank in partnership with Safaricom through the M-Pesa platform.

Launched in 2015, KCB Mpesa offers affordable short-term loans with an interest rate of 1.08% per month and a one-time negotiation fee of 2.5%. Transfers in and out of your KCB Mpesa account are free, making repayment simple and cost-effective.

How To Repay KCB Mpesa Loan

KCB Mpesa provides two easy repayment options:

  1. Repaying directly through your KCB Mpesa account
  2. Repaying using the Mpesa Paybill number

Both methods are mobile-friendly and can be done from anywhere.

Repaying Through KCB Mpesa Account

This is the fastest and easiest method if you already have money in your KCB Mpesa account.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Mpesa menu on your phone
  2. Select Loans and Savings
  3. Choose KCB Mpesa
  4. Tap Pay Loan
  5. Enter the amount and confirm

Once confirmed, the loan repayment is processed instantly from your KCB Mpesa balance.

Repaying Using Mpesa Paybill Number

If your funds are in your main Mpesa wallet, you can repay using the KCB Mpesa Paybill option.

Steps to follow:

  1. Go to the Mpesa menu
  2. Select Lipa na Mpesa
  3. Tap Paybill
  4. Enter 522559 as the Business Number
  5. Enter your phone number (the same number used to take the loan) as the Account Number
  6. Enter the amount you want to repay
  7. Input your Mpesa PIN and confirm
  8. Wait for the Mpesa confirmation message

Note that Paybill repayments may take up to 48 hours to reflect on your KCB Mpesa loan account.

Important Loan Repayment Tips

  • Repay on time to avoid penalties and increase your future loan limit
  • Check your outstanding balance before paying to avoid overpayment
  • Use the correct phone number when paying via Paybill to ensure the payment is credited correctly

What Happens After You Repay

After your repayment is processed:

  • Your loan balance is reduced or cleared
  • Your account status is updated (within 48 hours for Paybill payments)
  • You may qualify for a higher loan limit on your next application

You can confirm your loan status anytime by:

  • Opening Mpesa
  • Selecting Loans and Savings
  • Choosing KCB Mpesa

Why Repaying Through KCB Mpesa Is Better

  • Faster processing compared to Paybill
  • No transaction charges
  • Fully mobile and convenient
  • Immediate loan balance updates

Both repayment methods are reliable, but using the KCB Mpesa account is the quickest and most seamless option.

Final Thoughts

Repaying your KCB Mpesa loan on time helps you maintain a good credit record and unlock higher loan limits in the future. Whether you choose to repay directly through KCB Mpesa or via Paybill 522559, the process is simple, secure, and entirely mobile.
