In an effort to encourage regularization of parking subscriptions, Nairobi County has introduced an enticing early-bird discount for motorists. Governor Johnson Sakaja announced that a 5% discount will be available for those who renew or subscribe to seasonal parking between January 15 and February 14, 2026. This initiative is designed to provide motorists with a cost-effective way to manage their parking fees, ensuring that they can benefit from affordable options while helping streamline the city’s parking system.
Motorists can easily take advantage of this discount through a range of payment methods, including a quick USSD code (*647#), online payment options, or by visiting any County Customer Service Centre. Governor Sakaja emphasized the simplicity and convenience of the payment process, making it easier for drivers to meet their parking obligations.
The discount applies to parking in key areas such as Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), Westlands, and Upper Hill, where daily parking fees are set at approximately Sh300. For less congested areas, the rates are slightly lower, with fees around Sh150. This tiered pricing aims to encourage proper parking management while ensuring that more areas benefit from the streamlined system.
Seasonal Parking Rates and Payment Options
Nairobi’s new seasonal parking program offers flexible subscription options for both commercial and private vehicles. Subscription plans range from one month to an entire year, catering to the needs of both short-term and long-term parkers. Below are the rates for the seasonal parking service:
- One Month Subscription: Sh12,000
- Three Months Subscription: Sh32,000
- Six Months Subscription: Sh60,000
- Twelve Months Subscription: Sh112,000
For motorists with larger vehicles such as lorries, trailers, and non-PSV buses, private on-street seasonal parking is also available. These larger vehicles are subject to different rates, ensuring fair access to parking spaces for all.
Reserved Parking for Private Vehicles
In addition to regular seasonal parking, Nairobi County has introduced the option for reserved private parking slots. These spaces, measuring 2.5 by 5 meters, come with an annual fee of Sh275,000. Reserved parking offers motorists guaranteed spaces in high-demand areas, providing peace of mind for those who prefer to secure a spot on a long-term basis.
For those who need a reserved space on a daily basis, the county has set a charge of Sh1,500 per day. This option is ideal for individuals who require a parking spot on a more flexible, short-term basis.
Governor Sakaja’s initiative is a step toward improving the efficiency of Nairobi’s parking system while offering drivers an opportunity to save money through discounts and streamlined payment options. By regularizing parking subscriptions, the county hopes to alleviate congestion and improve the overall parking experience for both residents and visitors to the city.
