Telkom Kenya offers some of the most affordable data bundles in the country. However, auto-renewal settings on data bundles or SMS services can sometimes continue deducting airtime without your intention. If you want full control over your airtime and subscriptions, disabling these features is quick and easy.
This guide explains how to unsubscribe from Telkom auto-renewal data and SMS services and how to prevent your airtime from being used as data when bundles run out.
How to Stop Telkom Auto-Renewal Data Bundles
If your Telkom line keeps renewing data bundles automatically, follow these steps to turn it off:
Dial *544# on your Telkom line
Select the Data Bundles option
Choose the active bundle you want to stop
Select Unsubscribe to cancel auto-renewal
Once completed, the selected bundle will no longer renew automatically. You can re-subscribe to any data package later whenever you choose.
How to Stop Telkom SMS Auto-Renewal
SMS subscriptions also follow a similar process. To stop SMS auto-renewals:
Dial *544# on your Telkom line
Navigate to SMS Bundles or My Subscriptions
Select the active SMS service
Choose Unsubscribe and confirm
This immediately stops further deductions related to SMS services.
How to Stop Telkom From Using Airtime as Data
If your airtime gets used for internet browsing when your data bundle runs out, activate Telkom’s Data Manager. This feature blocks background data usage unless you have an active bundle.
To activate Data Manager:
Dial *544# on your Telkom line
Select My Data Manager
Choose Activate Data Manager
Once activated, your airtime will not be consumed for internet access when you have no data bundles.
Managing your Telkom subscriptions regularly helps you avoid unexpected airtime deductions. By turning off auto-renewals and enabling the Data Manager, you stay in control of your spending and only pay for services you actively choose to use.
