The National Intelligence and Research University College (NIRUC) is an institution established under Legal Notice No. 96 of 2021 as a Constituent College of National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K). The institution’s primary focus is to provide intelligence studies and research related to complex security threats, aiming to protect national and regional interests. Within the next five years, as outlined in its strategic plan, NIRUC intends to become a leading intelligence training institution with action-oriented research, not only in Kenya but across the region and beyond.

About National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K)

National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) was granted Charter status on May 27, 2021, under Section 24 of the Universities Act, 2012 (Revised 2020). This status empowers NDU-K to operate as a specialized degree-awarding institution in defence and security education. NDU-K was officially gazetted as the first institution of its kind in Kenya on Legal Notice No. 95 of June 4, 2021.

The establishment of NDU-K is a significant step in the integration of theory and practice in defence and security education, and it enables the university to foster collaborations with international institutions.
