Jubilee Party, led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has announced a significant leadership reshuffle, appointing Richard Ole Kenta as the new Secretary General. This decision, made public on Thursday, January 22, comes as part of a broader strategy to revitalize the party in preparation for the 2027 General Elections. Ole Kenta, who previously served as the Member of Parliament for Narok, will replace Jeremiah Kioni in this crucial role.
In the same leadership reshuffle, Kioni was appointed as the Deputy Party Leader, a role he will now share with former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who assumed the position in October 2025. The party expressed its confidence in Kenta’s ability to lead, calling on all members and supporters to extend their full cooperation to him as he undertakes his new responsibilities.
According to Fred Matiang’i, who confirmed the changes after a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), the appointment of Ole Kenta is a strategic move to strengthen the party as it prepares for the upcoming elections. Matiang’i emphasized that Kenta’s extensive political experience, having first been elected in 2013 under the TNA ticket, would be invaluable in shaping the party’s future.
Other notable appointments made by the NEC include Zack Kinuthia as Deputy Secretary General, Yassin Noor Haji as National Organizing Secretary, and Vincent Mogaka Kimoki as Party Chairperson. Key roles such as the Executive Director, Director of Elections, and Whips for both the National Assembly and Senate were also filled during this meeting.
These leadership changes mark a decisive moment for Jubilee Party as it positions itself for the 2027 elections, with Dr. Fred Matiang’i confirmed as the party’s presidential candidate.
